Financial management, payments and accounts of the department.
ABOUT THE UNIT
What we do
The Accounts Branch manages the finances of the Provincial Department of Health Services (Expenditure Head 631) in line with the Financial Regulations and provincial treasury procedures.
It is headed by the Chief Accountant, B.A.A. Wijerathne, with six Management Service Officers including the Financial Assistant.

Main functions
- Preparing annual estimates and releasing annual allocations
- Releasing the monthly imprest received from the Treasury
- Monthly account summaries and reconciliation with the Treasury
- Monthly salaries of permanent staff
- Vote ledgers and transfers of allocations under FR 66
- Annual maintenance plan and annual procurement plan
- Construction, repair and all other procurement
- Annual financial statements
- Replying to audit queries and holding audit management committees
- Advance B account, advances and reimbursements
- Bank reconciliation statements
- General deposit account and monthly reconciliation
