The Department of Health Services, North Central Province, has published its Annual Performance Report 2025. The report reviews patient care, public health, development projects, finance and human resources across Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa districts.

2025 in numbers

• About 3.41 million outpatient visits and 283,744 admissions at provincial base and divisional hospitals
• 12,966 live births, 99.9% of them in health institutions
• 214 development projects under the Provincial Specific Development Grant – 133 fully completed
• 97.8% of the recurrent allocation and 69.6% of the capital allocation used
• 4,408 staff in service, with 48 new nursing officer posts approved

Key achievements

• Laparoscope machine purchased for Base Hospital Thambuttegama
• Networking of outpatient departments started across the province
• Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) set up in Anuradhapura district
• Emergency treatment and accident & emergency services developed at BH Thambuttegama
• Health facility survey of all service institutions completed
