ABOUT THE UNIT
What we do
The Mechanical Engineering Unit maintains vehicles, air conditioning and other mechanical equipment of the department. It is headed by the Mechanical Engineer, B.A. Niranjana Dhanapala, who also runs the Vehicle Service Centre.
Location
Provincial Department of Health Services, North Central Province, Anuradhapura
Main functions
- Repairs of vehicles, computers and air-conditioning equipment in all institutions of the department
- Preparing the annual mechanical engineering plan (maintenance and development)

Under the Mechanical Engineer, with a store-keeper.
- Vehicle repair services
- Issuing spare parts from the store
- Requesting stock from the department when items reach the re-order level
- Monthly reconciliation of repair books
